Debt Talk has written and designed a financial literacy resource, to enable people to make informed choices regarding their personal finance.

Based on the following subjects.

  • Jargon Buster
  • To be able to perform the numeracy and literacy needed to understand basic personal finance
  • To understand differing bank accounts and systems
  • To know how to pay the bills using differing methods of payment
  • To be able to work out and apply percentages
  • To be able to maximise income, recognise priority bills and understand the consequences of non-payment of priority bills
  • To be able to set and apply a household budget
  • Practice setting household budgets for differing life changes

Although our course was originally designed to be delivered in schools for year 11’s,

we feel it can be equally useful for anyone needing to know how to manage their money

including the following:

Schools and Colleges for their students,

Housing Associations and Local authorities for their tenants who need to know

how to maximise their income, especially with the Welfare Reform Bill being discussed at the moment

and Young Mums who want to know how to recognise priority bills.
