Six pillars of money management

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog; this week, I’m talking about My six pillars of money management, Christmas Countdown, growing potatoes and credit cards.

If there is anything else you would like to discuss, please let me know in this blog’s comments section.

My six pillars of money management

The following are the six pillars of money management that I use. They’re what I feel we need to know and understand so we can have a better relationship with our money

  1. create a Budget
  2. know and control your Priority Bills
  3. frequently check your bank balance(s)
  4. keep a Spending Diary
  5. define your financial goals
  6. develop a strategy to achieve your financial goals

Christmas Countdown

There are 42 weeks and 5 days until Christmas Day. If you decided to join me on my Christmas Countdown Challenge and save £20.00 a week, your total should be £160.00 already!

By Christmas, you would have saved £980.00 if all goes to plan.

But let us face it, life is not always that simple, so if you cannot save every week, do not worry, start the next week again.

Grow your own – my allotment diary

Last week my seed potatoes arrived, and I am now storing them in my greenhouse. Egg boxes are perfect for this. The seed potatoes are kept in the light and protected from frost at night-time.  This is called ‘chitting’. It helps them sprout tubers ready for when I plant them.

To remind you, I am not a professional gardener.   But I thought I would include my allotment diary to inspire you to start to grow your own. If you need professional gardening advice, look for an experienced local gardener.

Hints and Tips

Check your credit card APR; if it is not 0%, transfer the balance to 0% and shred the original card.

If you can try to stop using your credit cards or pay off the balance before any interest is applied – interest is an unnecessary expense.
