My week
The inevitable has happened, and my tariff has increased, so this week’s most significant thing has been my Smartmeter, which is now the centre of my world.
It acts like a toddler, constantly demanding attention whenever the red light comes on. I have to try different techniques to passive it and keep the price in check!
I’ll let you know how I get on with this.
My five hens
This week I had to give one of my girls a pedicure! Why? Because of some reason, and I have no idea why, sometimes my Chickens end up with giant balls of clay stuck to their toes, which means they can’t walk or scratch for food properly.
So, yesterday morning I was washing the feet of one of my girls to get the ball of clay off her toes, it took a while, but she seemed to quite like being pampered!
Allotment update
I haven’t been over this week because of the weather. It is either freezing or raining. So I am still chitting the potatoes in the Greenhouse. I will probably visit my local garden centre to pick up some compost for my seeds, although It’s a little early to plant what I want to grow.
As you know, I’m not a professional gardener. But I’m just hoping that my updates will inspire people to grow their food and help save the planet. If you need professional gardening advice, try finding a local gardening expert and see if they can help you.

This week try using supermarket ‘own brands’ – you may save loads of money compared to buying branded items, I know I do.
